Hannah's Fashion (A Sewing Project)

DACVFI ventured to its new sustainable livelihood program – The Sustainable Sewing Project. This is in partnership with the Spouses Heads Of Mission (SHOM) headed by the then president, Madame Caecilia Legowo, and the International Bazaar Foundation (IBF) who funded the Sewing Project. Through this, was the birth of "Hanna's Fashion", the signature name of the sewing products. Slowly but surely, the project which was headed by Dr. Tahani Al Assal who painstakingly monitors the project despite her busy schedule, tried coaching the staff on inventory, marketing, simple bookkeeping, and hands-on in fabric and sewing materials identification. She also attends to community orientation whenever necessary to ensure that the project runs smoothly

The Sewing Project aims to generate long-term funds and help sustain the children's needs over-time. Likewise, it helps contribute to poverty alleviation to Muslim and non-Muslim women by fostering self-employment and increasing household income, thereby empowering the poor families to be productive and self-reliant.

  1. To help DACVFI establish and ably manage its own sewing livelihood project.
  2. To enable the DACVFI build up assets that may use primarily for the daily sustenance of the orphans, likewise filling other needs on medical and educational aspects;
  3. To create job opportunities to partner-beneficiaries (the Muslim women) and enable them to build up individual savings towards self-reliant;
  4. To provide appropriate and structures business education and livelihood skills training to DACVFI Staff and it's partner-beneficiaries through the Livelihood Management seminars and "pulong" (means meeting/assembly) sessions.

To enable the achievement of the above goals and objectives, DACVFI's tried exploring various ways of marketing Hanna's products.

To date, the Sewing Project plans to explore and expand its products into school uniforms as per need of the DACVFI's school populace and other partnering agencies, also soon venturing to bedsheets, and pillow cases.
